On 19 February, 2015 in Sochi veterinary epidemiological situation in CIS countries has been discussed by the representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russian Federation, the veterinary services of CIS countries as well as other specialists in the field. A special attention has been paid to the issues of African swine fever. Hovhannes Mkrtchyan, the Head of the Veterinary Inspection of the State Service for Food Safety of MOA of RA has participated in the discussions as well.
Specialists and authorized bodies have also discussed the issues of the movement of livestock production in CIS countries and the need to ensure its transparency in order to strengthen the control in this field. For this purpose the systems (Argus, Mercury, Vesta), which were successfully launched by the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russian Federation have also been suggested to be invested in CIS countries.
During the meeting the need of identification of veterinary medicines has also been discussed and in this regard joint activities are currently being carried out.
It was proposed to establish a working group for meeting the aforementioned challenges in a consolidated manner.
