newsppOn 1 April, in one of mass media publications the low price of tomatoes imported from Turkey was mentioned. It was highlighted in the publication that tomatoes infected with western flower thrips were imported into Armenia from Turkey, which had been sent back by Russia.

The State Service for Food safety of MOA, RA (hereinafter SSFS) notifies that vegetables in particular tomatoes infected with western flower thrips couldn’t have been imported from Turkey because each batch of turkish products including tomatoes subject to phytosanitary quarantine examination is subjected to mandatory phytosanitary laboratory examination in border control points, after which the entry into the Republic is permitted.
