During his working visit to Moscow, Armen Ayrapetyan, the Head of the State Service for Food Safety met the Russian counterpart Sergey Dankvert, the Head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of the Russian Federation.
The parties thoroughly discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation highlighting sustainable development trends of Armenian-Russian commercial economic relations. During the discussion of the veterinary epizootic situation in the Republic of Armenia the necessity of joint cooperation was mentioned. The possibility of elimination of temporary restriction of export of live animals (pigs, bovine and ovine), genetic material thereof and meat not subject to processing as well as milk and other dairy products not subject to heat treatment and mentioned animal raw materials susceptible to foot and mouth disease in Armenia was discussed as well.
Note, that certain restrictions were imposed due to the foot and mouth disease detected in one of the communities. In the result of the disease preventive measures including obtaining of vaccine against new subtype, risk of infection in the country has been reduced. Currently negotiations are being held to obtain the second batch of vaccine.
During the meeting the issue of strengthening the surveillance over all the products subject to veterinary control in accordance to EAEU joint requirements was discussed.
The necessity of organizing the transportation of phytosanitary goods of Armenian origin as quickly as possible and without obstacles related to the increase of the production volumes of the seasonal fruits and vegetables was highlighted. In the meantime, the arrangements were made, that the experts of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of the Russian Federation will visit Armenia in order to get acquainted with the specifications of operation of the greenhouses.
