DSCN4725Armen Ayrapetyan, the Head of the State Service for Food Safety of MOA, RA (hereinafter Service) met the delegation headed by Anatoly Mikheev, the Head of the Border Guard Department of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Armenia on April 5.
The epidemiological situation of the country and the cooperation within this framework was in the agenda of the meeting to prevent the possible penetration of animal infectious diseases to the Republic of Armenia. Speaking about the geographical position of our country and the risks of penetration of infections, the sides mentioned the threat coming especially from Turkey and Iran and the necessity of strengthening control over the movement of agricultural animals. In this context, Armen Ayrapetyan stressed the importance of the introduction of animal identification system and informed that the works in this direction are ongoing.
The Head of the Service introduced the current epidemiological situation and the implemented prevention works highlighting the effective cooperation with the Russian Federal Centre for Animal Health and the given opportunity of acquiring vaccines operatively in line with new challenges. Anatoly Mikheev stressed the importance of preventive measures and control in such border areas which are beyond the boundaries of technical structures – in pastures. The Head of the Service as a support offered to use the laboratory capacities of the Service reequipped recently in the framework of the Armenian-Russian financial agreement.
Anatoly Mikheev expressed his gratitude for the close cooperation: Armen Hayrapetyan was awarded a commemorative medal and the employees of the Service were awarded diplomas.
The Heads of the Service and the Border Guard Department signed a protocol fixing the directions and forthcoming steps of the cooperation.
