From the 21st to the 24th of June the delegation of Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (hereinafter referred as Rosselkhoznadzor) visited Armenia in order to familiarize themselves with production and storage facilities of fruits and vegetables, as well as to get to know the certification process of products for export. Issues related to export of goods subject to phytosanitary control to Russia was discussed during the meeting with Armen Ayrapetyan, the Head of the Service. The efficiency of bilateral cooperation and joint supervision in the framework of EAEU was highlighted as well. Daily and close collaboration between two institutions, which will enable rapid response in emergency cases, was emphasized.
Armen Ayrapetyan mentioned that new greenhouses in compliance with the cutting-edge technologies is now actively being built in Armeina which will make domestic products more competitive at the global market. The territories of greenhouses are expected to grow by 70 hectares by the end of 2016. Rosselkhoznadzor experts visited a number of vegetables greenhouses, as well as apple and apricot orchards. It’s worth mentioning that biological methods are used for quarantine pest control when growing vegetables and berries, thus, making the products biologically safe.
During the visit the Russian delegation got familiar with the “Republican Veterinary – Sanitary Laboratory Services center” SNCO’s activities. Modern equipments and qualified specialists make it possible now to carry out all types of required tests in compliance with EAEU requirements.
