On 24 March, a meeting was held between the representatives of the staff of the State Service for Food Safety of MOA, RA (hereinafter Service) and Lor Delkur, Professor of French Institute of International Relations.
During the meeting the possible progress of Armenia and EU cooperation in food safety enhancement was discussed, and the fact that the effectiveness of cooperation depends on mutual interest was emphasized. They touched upon the activities implemented in the scope of the “Twinning” program and legislative reforms, as well as Hazard analysis and critical control points’ system (HACCP), its principles, introduction steps and their applications.
Legal and functional changes in food safety sphere were presented in the result of RA membership to EU. Vahe Danielyan, the Head of the of Food production control division of the Food safety and quality control inspection of the Service mentioned that RA membership to the Eurasian Economic Union from January 2015 has resulted in new standards. At the same time he expressed willingness to continue the cooperation with the European co-partners from the viewpoint of the exchange of experience.
