The State Service for Food Safety of MoA of RA (hereinafter referred as the Service) is taking steps to eliminate current violations and shortcomings detected in the regional meat markets. For this purpose meetings are organized with business operators in the regions.

Tavush marz was the next stop that officials from the Service visited (a similar meeting was held in Gyumri as well). Open air meat sale is mostly criticized in the regions. During the meeting held in Tavush Regional Administration issues concerning the prohibition of open air meat sale and animal slaughter to be mandatory carried out in the slaughterhouses were discussed with Hovhnannes Mkrtchyan, the Head of the Veterinary Inspection, Hovik Abovyan, the Governor of Tavush marz, Vardan Ghalumyan, the Mayor of Ijevan, Vasil Galstyan, the Head of Tavush marz center of the Service as well as with representatives of Ijevan police department.

Regional Administration and the Service touched upon other challenges in the meat market: accompanying veterinary documents, meat stamps acceptable for food, primary sanitary-hygienic norms for meat markets, lack of sanitary passports of staff and violations in the periodic medical examinations’ deadlines. Arrangements were made to take actions to eliminate the violations.
