During the conference held on 24 November, Lusine Davtyan, the Deputy Head of the State Service for Food Safety of MOA, RA (hereinafter Service) presented EEU new technical regulations and certification requirements coming into force in 2016.
Lusine Davtyan mentioned that according to EEU technical regulations the application of hazard analysis and critical control point system (HACCP) becomes mandatory during the production organization for business entities involved in food production. Apart from production the business entity is responsible for the safety of the final product. Lusine Davtyan also clarified food marking requirements, detailing that both the product and the box or container must be packaged and marked. “The producer has to declare if his/her product meets the requirements of technical regulations and in this case there is no need for additional certification,” she mentioned and assured that this procedure only simplifies the activities of business entities. Lusine Davtyan informed that despite the new regulations coming into force in 2016, the certificates of the business entities that have already been issued will be in force until the end of the intended period. “There will be no significant changes for business entities from January,” concluded Lusine Davtyan.
