News.com regularly discusses the issue on “Lida” biologically active additives which were removed from circulation and stored for subsequent actions in the result of monitoring carried out by the order of the Head of State Service for food Safety of MOA of RA.
Hereby we remind that the Service implemented monitoring towards labeling and expiration date of “Lida” biologically active additives. In the result of monitoring it was detected that there is no Armenian labeling, labeling of EAEU compliance verifying common mark, as well as information on this product in the EAEU state unified registry.
State control is carried out according to the RA Law “On state control of food safety”.
The procedures of the monitoring are stipulated in the subparagraph 5 of point 1 of Article 2 and Article 8. Procedures applied during the monitoring are sufficient to ensure the state control.
With regards to future activities of suspended biologically active additives it is worth mentioning that instructions are given on implementing the compliance assessment (state registration) of aforementioned product. According to № 021/2011 Technical Regulation of EAEU on “Food safety” food products circulated in the territory of EAEU are subject to compliance assessment.
According to № 021/2011 Technical Regulation biologically active additives are intended for special nutritional purposes and should have state registration.
The State registration procedures ensure the safety of the products subject to registration, the purpose of the usage, labeling requirements, as well as the requirements defined by the Annex 7 of the EAEU № 021 Technical Regulation: “list of plants and products thereof, animal origin products, microorganisms, fungi and biologically active substances are prohibited as biologically active food additives”.
Every product has labeling of common mark of EAEU member states compliance assessment.
According to News.am the Service should take samples from biological additives or carry out laboratory testing to clarify if it could be hazardous for human health.
Hereby we inform that the Service hasn’t received any alarm from any authorized bodies (international rapid alert systems, authorized bodies of EAEU member states or citizens) regarding biologically active additives.
The Service is a state authorized body aiming to assist business operators to eliminate shortcomings. In this case, the suspension of the sale of the additives is a sufficient and justified procedure.
