On the 23rd of February Ishkhan Karapetyan, the Head of the State Service for Food Safety of MoA of RA and Zurab Chekurashvili, the Head of LEPL National Food Agency of Georgia signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the cooperation in the food safety, veterinary and phytosanitary sectors.
Ignati Arakelyan, the Minister of Agriculture of Armenia and Levan Davitashvili, the Minister of Agriculture of Georgia were present during the event. Both Parties acknowledged the concept of MoU as a significant step aimed at introducing international standards and exchanging experience and information.
The provisions to facilitate the export of food products subject to phytosanitary and veterinary control and strengthening of the cooperation stipulated by the MoU were highlighted by Parties as well.
Cooperation between two agencies will be strengthened through bilateral visits of specialists carrying out control in food safety, phytosanitary and veterinary fields.
