arm_geoArmen Ayrapetyan, the Head of the State Service for Food Safety of MOA, RA (hereinafter Service) went on a working visit to the Republic of Georgia on 18-19 May, 2015.

The Head of the Service met Zaza Dolidze, the Head of the National Food Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia. Hovhannes Mkrtchyan, the Head of the Veterinary inspection of the Service, Irakli Chavleshvili, the Deputy Head of the National Food Agency of Georgia, Zurab Lipartia, the Head of the Phytosanitary department of the National Food Agency of Georgia were also present at the meeting.

Issues on the export, import and transit of the consignments under veterinary and phytosanitary control were discussed with Georgian colleagues. In particular, they touched upon new approaches and changes on transfer procedure of consignments under veterinary and phytosanitary control which have arisen after the Armenia’s membership to EAEU. An agreement was reached to conduct joint activities for organizing transit of food products more efficiently in the Armenian-Georgian border.

The possibilities to develop and strengthen bilateral cooperation in food safety field were also discussed at the meeting.
