In response to mass media news on the registration of brucellosis, we hereby inform you that after the case in the slaughterhouse belonging to “Gyughart” CJSC in Kapan city of Syunik marz the veterinary-inspectors of Syunik marz center of the State Service for Food Safety (hereinafter Service) visited the slaughterhouse and observed the situation, found out the number of infected animals and checked the availability of the accompanying documents.
It was found out during the documentary study that from 21 January, 2014 till 11 November, 2014 “Gyughart” CJSC has received and slaughtered 24,494 small cattle with appropriate accompanying documents (veterinary certificate N1) from six marzes of the Republic of Armenia and the Nagorno Karabakh Republic. According to veterinary certificates N1 (accompanying document) the animals for slaughter were healthy. Such a documentary study takes a long time and despite the large volume of the documents and the difficulty to find out the virus penetration way after a few months, all accompanying documents were studied separately with traceability principle.
However, if the slaughterhouse kept all biosafety standards, regardless of whether the animal is sick or not, this case would not be recorded.
Given that the slaughterhouse does not operate now, the works (including counseling) to ensure biosafety for further prevention of possible hazards are appropriate to carry out before the operation of the slaughterhouse.
With regards to the recent incident in Solak community of Kotayq marz we hereby inform you that the issue is on the focus of the Service. In the result of the study carried out by the veterinary inspectors it was found out that 6 bovine and 19 ovine animals were isolated and subjected to sanitary slaughter during the regular inspections of “Vaccination of agricultural animals” program.
Studies are ongoing, we will inform additionally in case of new information.
As for possible risks of vaccination against brucellosis, professional discussions are being held both with the representatives of the regulatory bodies as well as individuals, including international experts. After the end of the discussions a relevant statement we will be reached.
